Civil Engineering (Four-year program)

1. Education Aims

To cultivate application-oriented senior engineering and technical personnel with humanistic qualities, professional ethics and social responsibility. The students form this program are trained with scientific thinking and have international vision, innovative thinking, entrepreneurial awareness and continuous learning ability.

      Graduates from this program will be qualified for engineering survey, structural design, construction technology, engineering testing and construction management of civil engineering projects in construction engineering, road and bridge engineering and related fields.

After about 5 years of practice, graduates are expected to be the core technical or management personnel in the field of civil engineering, and play an effective role in the organization, management and collaborative team work to solve complex engineering problems.

The Education aim can be summarized as:

(1) Able to apply theoretical knowledge to solve complex engineering problems in the fields of surveying, planning, designing, construction, management and other aspects.

(2) Having solid professional knowledge and strong abilities to work independently; having teamwork spirit and able to actively and effectively communicate and cooperate with others to exercise duties in a multidisciplinary team.

(3) Having knowledge and qualities necessary for the qualifications of Registered Construction Engineer, Structural Engineer and Supervision Engineer; to be the core technical or management personnel and have international perspectives, innovative spirits and life-long learning ability;

(4) Cultivated with lofty morality, safety and health concepts, humanistic social science quality, and social responsibility; serving the country and society actively.

Surveying and Mapping Engineering (Four-year program)

1. Education Aims

To cultivate high-quality engineering and technical talents with solid basic theoretical and professional knowledge and good practical skills in surveying and mapping geographic information, with higher ability to design, manage and organize surveying and mapping projects, and with ability to solve complex engineering problems by using mathematics, natural sciences, engineering sciences, modern surveying and mapping methods.

The students will grasp basic knowledge of humanities and social sciences, receive scientific thinking training, possess international perspective, innovative thinking, entrepreneurial awareness and continuous learning ability, and have the ability to engage in surveying and mapping production, technology development, scientific research, operation and management in the fields of basic surveying and mapping, geographic situation monitoring, satellite positioning navigation and location services, geographic information system development and application, mineral resources development and protection, urban planning and engineering construction, etc.

Graduates are expected to achieve the following goals in about 5 years after graduation:

(1) Profession/Knowledge/Ability: Having a deep understanding in basic knowledge and professional theories; able to solve complex engineering technical problems while taking into account social, health, safety, legal, cultural, and environmental factors.

(2) Research ability: Able to solve complex engineering problems in the field of surveying and mapping engineering by integrating natural sciences, mathematics, information science and professional knowledge; able to undertake geodetic data processing, geographic information system application and research; able to make some innovations.

(3) Engineering ability: Able to design, organize, manage and implement surveying and mapping projects; able to undertake engineering analysis, scheme design and complex problem solving; becoming qualified engineers and professional technical directors in the fields of surveying and mapping.

(4) Management and decision-making: Having strong organizational ability, management ability, decision-making ability, adaptability and teamwork spirit; keeping track of the latest development in surveying and mapping engineering.

(5) Professional quality: Having high professional quality and personal cultivation; familiar with national policies and regulations related to surveying and mapping geographic information industry; conforming with professional ethics and norms in engineering practices.

Engineering Management (Four-year Program)

1. Education Aims

To cultivate innovative engineering management personnel who meet the needs of local economic and social development.

Graduates from this program will be provided with humanistic quality, scientific literacy, green concept, social responsibility and health body and mind. The students will be trained to pursue excellence and innovation, and possess international perspective, professional ethics, teamwork spirit, management thinking, and innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. The students will master the basic and professional knowledge related to engineering management, such as civil engineering technology, management, economics, and law. The students will learn to practice basic project management, project cost and information management. They will learn to use scientific methods of modern management to engage in project management and other related work in construction and development institutions, engineering consulting enterprises, investment enterprises, construction related enterprises, government construction departments, scientific research institutions, education institutions, etc.

Graduates are expected to achieve the following goals in about 5 years after graduation:

(1) Having social responsibility, healthy body and mind and good humanistic quality; understanding and adhering to professional ethics; taking into account laws and regulations, environment and sustainable development and other factors with priority to public interest in planning practice.

(2) Able to apply civil engineering technology to project management throughout the whole process of engineering construction, to manage the whole engineering project in civil engineering, other related fields and multidisciplinary environments, to use modern information technology and methods to solve practical engineering problems, to use the theories and methods of engineering cost to solve practical problems of cost management throughout the whole process in engineering construction, to combine theories and methods of cost management with professional management technology and modern information to conduct dynamical planning, controlling, calculating, analyzing, evaluating, reduce project costs and enhance project value in the process of engineering construction under complex environment.

(3) Having the consciousness of independent learning and lifelong learning; able to renew professional knowledge independently by using scientific methods and modern tools and technologies; make effective verbal and written trans-cultural communication with peers and the public on complex engineering issues and respond actively to changes of engineering reform in the context of globalization.

1. Education Objectives

To cultivate application-oriented senior specialists who meet the needs of national urban and rural development with solid basic theoretical knowledge and practical ability of urban and rural planning and design.

Students graduating from this program will have strong senses of social responsibility, teamwork spirits, innovative thinking, and concepts of sustainable development and cultural inheritance. Students after graduation will be mainly engaged in designing, developing and managing rural and urban planning projects and related teaching and research in professional planning institutions, administrative organizations, universities and research institutions.

Graduates are expected to achieve the following goals in about 5 years after graduation:

(1) Having social responsibility, healthy body and mind, and good humanistic quality; understanding and committing to professional ethics; considering laws and regulations, environment and sustainable development and other factors with priority to public interests in planning practices.

(2) Provided with basic knowledge of humanities and social science and systematic expertise of urban and rural planning; have the ability to correctly handle complex relationships between urban- rural development and natural environment, social environment, and historical heritage; be able to conduct comprehensive research on urban and rural related issues, discover problems and  associated characteristics, analyze and deduce the future demands and impacts of planning objects using forecasting methods, and propose planning suggestions.

(3) Provided with the ability to track and adapt to the development of modern urban and rural planning technology; provided with the ability to practice and innovate, and consciously use new technologies and methods in engineering analysis, project design and expression; possess the preliminary ability to coordinate multiple plans.

(4) Familiar with basic principles and technical methods of urban and rural planning and management; possess certain abilities for coordination, management, communication, competition and cooperation; qualified for the work of urban and rural planning and management in administrative organs, planning consultation, real estate development and other departments.
